How to take Rybelsus tablets
As soon as you wake up, the NHS says. The Rybelsus leaflets say on an empty stomach after at least 8 hours’ fasting, swallowed whole with a sip of water, up to 120ml, then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or other medicines by mouth. One tablet a day, and they say skip a missed one.

Also in the leaflets
One a day
Always just one tablet a day, the Rybelsus leaflets say: never take two tablets to get the effect of a higher dose.
Whole
The Rybelsus leaflets say swallow it whole and don’t split, crush or chew it, as it isn’t known if that affects absorption.
Why the wait
The leaflets say waiting less than 30 minutes before eating or drinking lowers the absorption of semaglutide.
On levothyroxine?
If you also take levothyroxine for your thyroid, the leaflets say your doctor may need to check your thyroid levels.
Questions
What if I forget a tablet?
The leaflets say skip the missed dose and just take your normal dose the next day. The NHS says don’t take 2 doses at the same time to make up for a missed one.
Can I take it with coffee?
The leaflets say swallow it with a sip of water, up to 120ml, then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other medicines by mouth.
Are the round and oval tablets the same?
Both are Rybelsus, but the strengths differ: 1.5, 4 and 9mg round tablets, or 3, 7 and 14mg oval ones. The leaflets say your doctor will prescribe the strength that is right for you.
